ROCKFORD - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, supported a complete-game one-hitter by pitcher Ryan Demmin and defeated the Rockford Aviators 3-0 on Saturday night at Aviators Stadium. The road trip concludes at Rockford for a 5:05 p.m. contest on Sunday
The CornBelters drew the first run in the third inning as Mike Schwartz was hit by a pitch followed by a walk to Pat McKenna, and T.J. Gavlik drove in Schwartz with a single through the right side for the game's first run. The Belters padded the lead to 3-0 in the fifth with a two-out, two-RBI double by Luis De La Cruz.
Demmin (3-2) faced only two batters over the minimum in his one-hitter, walking three and striking out 11. Derrick Stultz (0-2) took the loss.
