Rockford, Ill. -- The Rockford IceHogs took advantage of five power plays, including three 5-on-3 opportunities, to beat the San Antonio Rampage 8-3 Sunday evening at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Tired from a 22-hour travel day Saturday, the Rampage managed to battle back from a 4-0 deficit to a 3-5 deficit just under the four-minute mark of the third period before the IceHogs scored three unanswered goals that included a pair of 5-on-3 power-play goals.

A combined total of 180 penalty minutes stemmed from 46 infractions, where the Rampage earmarked 104 of those minutes on 26 penalties.

Defenseman Brendan Bell and right wing Enver Lisin each scored multiple-points. Both assisted on the Rampage's first goal, Joel Perrault's seventh on the season, at 11:12 in the second stanza.

Lisin and defenseman Keith Yandle were credited on Chris Durno's fifth goal on the year at the 15:51 mark in the second.

Bell, Matt Murley and Travis Roche teamed up to score early in the third, at 3:54 on the power-play, to bring the Rampage within two and try to make a game of it.

Rockford answered back with three goals in the final frame that included two 5-on-3 power-play markers. Petri Kontiola scored his first goal and third of four points on the night at 6:31 before assisting on Martin St. Pierre's second goal, and his fifth point in the game.

Rockford (8-3-2-1; 19 points) moves into second place in the West Division standings, along with San Antonio (8-5-1-2; 19 pts) who dropped their third game in as many nights.
