The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 4-2 on Friday night at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops.
The Rockets opened the scoring at 5:59 as Marek Skvrne(3) notched Kelowna's 14th shorthanded marker of the season. Kelowna held that lead into the second period.
In the middle frame Carsen Twarynski(43) finished off a 2-on-0 with Dillon Dube to make it 2-0 Kelowna at 6:59. Orrin Centazzo(11) got the Blazers on the board scoring on a penalty shot midway through the frame. Dube(33) responded right back for Kelowna on the power play one-timing Kyle Topping's pass from the slot to make it 3-1 Rockets. Kelowna led 3-1 heading into the third period.
The Rockets shut the Blazers down in the third period, and Kole Lind(38) added a late goal for Kelowna. Nolan Kneen(7) scored on the power play with six seconds remaining but it wouldn't matter as the Rockets skate to a 4-2 victory.
Brodan Salmond's record improves to 12-10-0-1 after stopping 36 of the 38 shots he faced. The Rockets and Blazers were even 38-38 in shots.
Kelowna's record improves to 39-22-5-2.
Dillon Dube(1G,1A) recorded two points in his 200th career WHL game. Kyle Topping(2A) also notched two points.
