Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club announced the winners of two of its regular season year-end awards prior to their game against the Regina Pats on March 9.
Here's a list of the award winners:
Rocky Mountain Diesel Scholastic Player of the Year - Sebastian Streu
Sebastian showed tremendous dedication towards his academics during the 2017-18 hockey season. Sebastian excelled in his academics - averaging over 80% in three difficult courses - and the comments from teachers indicate how much they enjoyed his presence in class. "Sebe" transitioned from school in Europe last year and worked very hard to manage the transition both on and off the ice.
As of Friday, Sebastian has suited up in 52 games with the ICE this season, registering nine goals and 12 points.
Fan Club Player of the Year - Peyton Krebs
At each ICE home game during the 2017-18 season, the Kootenay ICE Fan Club offered to fans an opportunity to vote for their favourite player. The votes were tallied and the Fan's Favourite Player goes to Peyton Krebs.
As of Friday, Krebs has played in 62 games with the ICE this season, recording 16 goals and 52 points. He is leading all WHL rookies in assists (36) and points.
The remaining Kootenay ICE regular season year-end awards will be presented on Saturday, March 17. That's the final regular season home game for the ICE. Tickets are available and can be purchased online at ICEcountry.ca, at the ICE Gear Store at Western Financial Place or by calling 250-417-0322.
