The Kelowna Rockets have acquired 19-year-old forward Carsen Twarynski and a conditional third round pick from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 18-year-old forward Jake Kryski.

The trade came just two days after the Rockets acquired high profile sniper Reid Gardiner in a trade with the Prince Albert Raiders.

"We felt we needed to add a big physical forward and we're getting that in Carsen. A power forward is something we were lacking," said Rockets General Manager Bruce Hamilton. "Jake Kryski is the player that Calgary wanted in return so that's the price we had to pay."

Kryski was acquired from Kamloops prior to the start of this season. In his short stint with the Rockets he tallied 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points along with 43 PIMS in 37 games.

The 6-foot-2 200 lb. power forward Twarynski has 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points along with 42 PIMS in 36 games with the Hitmen this season. He played a total of 160 games for the Hitmen amassing 35 goals and 51 assists for 86 career WHL points.

Twarynski was taken 82nd overall in the 2016 NHL entry draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Rockets will be awarded a third round draft pick if Twarynski does not return to the Rockets from NHL/AHL camps next season as a 20-year-old overage player.

Twarynski is expected to be in a Rockets uniform on Wednesday when they visit the Victoria Royals.

Fans will be able to see Twarynski in action at Prospera Place on January 18th when the Rockets host the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Tickets are available for Rockets home games through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
