The Kelowna Rockets completed the comeback to defeat the Vancouver Giants 7-6 in overtime in a high scoring affair on Wednesday night at Prospera Place.

The opening 20 minutes saw a total of seven goals scored between the two teams. After establishing a two-goal lead early in the third, the Rockets responded with three straight goals including the overtime winner off of 16-year-old Andrew Cristall's stick.

Four of the Rockets goals came from defencemen, including two from 20-year-old Jake Lee. Nolan Flamand was involved all night long, picking up four assists on the night. Meanwhile, Rockets defenceman Tyson Feist earned first star honours after putting up a goal and an assist.

Damian Palmieri (1) scored his first WHL goal 53 seconds into the game. The Rockets then responded with three straight goals from Steel Quiring (1), Jake Lee (1) and Tyson Feist (2). However, the Giants pushed back with three of their own from Payton Mount (2), Tanner Brown (1) and Connor Horning (3) to hold a 4-3 lead after twenty minutes of play. Following the Giants fourth goal Cole Tisdale replaced Rockets starter Colby Knight in net.

Zack Ostapchuk (1) and Noah Dorey (1) traded goals in the second frame.

Ethan Semeniuk (2) scored early in the third for the Giants. Turner McMillen (1) pounced on a rebound and Jake Lee (2) scored on the power play to force overtime.

Andrew Cristall (2) charged up the left-wing and beat Jesper Vikman to lift the Rockets to their second consecutive overtime win.

Knight made three saves on seven shots before being replaced by Tisdale, who turned aside 17 of the 19 shots he faced.

The Rockets power play was two-for-four on the night, while the penalty kill was two-for-three.

Kelowna outshot Vancouver 40 t0 26.

Scott Cousins, Marcus Pacheco and Elias Carmichael were the Rockets scratches.

The Rockets record moves to 4-3-0-0.

Kelowna is set to continue their homestand on Friday when they host the Portland Winterhawks at Prospera Place. A limited number of single-game tickets are available at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.

The current B.C. Provincial Health Office restrictions allow for 50% capacity at Prospera Place. All fans attending will need to abide by the BC Provincial Health Authority, Prospera Place and the Western Hockey League's recently announced COVID-19 health and safety requirements which includes masks, double vaccination and their BC vaccine card.
