Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. -ÃÂ The Regina Pats won their third consecutive game on WednesdayÃÂ night,ÃÂ edging the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-3 in regulation.
The Pats are now 5-7-0 on the season, while the Warriors drop to 4-7-0 and have lost four of their last five.
The Regiment were led by a pair of Zacks: Zack Smith and Zack Stringer each recorded a goal and an assist.ÃÂ Braxton Whitehead and Luke Bateman also scored, with Bateman's late second period marker holding up as the game-winner. REGÃÂ 1-1ÃÂ at 18:18 -ÃÂ Braxton Whitehead (1), assisted byÃÂ Adam McNuttÃÂ // A shot from Robert Baco missed the net and ricocheted all the way out to centre, right when Adam McNutt stepped out of the penalty box and resulting in a 3-on-1 rush for the Pats. 2nd Period
REG 2-1ÃÂ at 5:51 -Zack Smith (1), assisted byÃÂ Tanner HoweÃÂ andÃÂ Zack StringerÃÂ // Tanner Howe's shot on the power play from the top of the left circle resulted inÃÂ a big rebound to Tetachuk's left, which Smith banged home for his first goal of the season.
MJÃÂ 2-2ÃÂ at 5:59 -ÃÂ Jagger Firkus (3), unassistedÃÂ // Firkus responded just seven seconds later, ripping a shot from the left circle past Matthew Kieper.

THEY SAID IT
AssistantÃÂ Coach Ken Schneider: "I don't know that we were in love with our game tonight. I thinkÃÂ we got done whatÃÂ we needed to get done. We did some things right late, but overall I think when we play the likes of Winnipeg orÃÂ Brandon, those teams - not to take anything away from Moose Jaw - we're going to need to play a little bit better in our own end. We're going to need to be better defensively overall...In time, in those tight games, it'd be nice to get the lead once in a while and then of course tonight we did, and then learningÃÂ about how to play with the lead. Playing with the lead is all about making sureÃÂ we put pucks in the right place and being good defensively.ÃÂ Being on top of our check, instead of getting trapped three guys belowÃÂ the goal line, maybe make a play at their net and then they stretch the puck up the ice and we get caught flat-footed. That happened several times tonight and that's a dangerousÃÂ way to play, if you get into a track race."
