The Kelowna Rockets closed out their 2021 preseason schedule with a 4-3 loss to the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.

The Rockets opened the scoring in the first with a goal from Jake Poole (2). Fraser Minten (5) tied up the game just before the end of the opening frame.

The Blazers stormed ahead in the second period with three straight goals coming from Matthew Seminoff (5), Josh Pillar (2), Dylan Sydor (2).

Kelowna mounted a third-period comeback bid that fell short. Ethan Ernst (1) beat his brother, Blazer netminder Dylan, with a goal on the power play. Max Graham (2) pulled the Rockets within one with just over five minutes to play.

Cole Schwebius started in net, stopping 10 of the 11 shots fired on him through twenty minutes of play. Nicholas Cristiano replaced Schwebius in net at the start of the third, turning aside 10 of the 13 shots he faced.

Both Kelowna and Kamloops were two-for-five on the man advantage.

The Rockets outshot the Blazers 38-24.

Rilen Kovacevic, Noah Dorey, William Irvine, Mark Liwiski, Cole Tisdale and Pavel Novak were the Rockets scratches.

The Rockets are now off until October 7, when they'll head to Victoria to open their 2021-22 schedule against the Royals on the road at the Sandman Centre.

The Rockets are set to open their regular season schedule on October 15, 2021, against the Kamloops Blazers. Season tickets are now available to the general public for the upcoming 2021-22 Rockets season.
