Kennewick, WA - Jake Sloan netted both Tri-City goals as the Americans fell to Spokane 3-2 in their final game of the preseason.

Scoring opened tonight 10:46 into the first period as Brandon Reller put Spokane on the board first. A minute later the Chiefs' Jordan Chudley took a penalty for holding to put the Americans on the power play.

Jake Sloan capitalized on the opportunity and tied the game as he tipped in a shot by Lukas Dragicevic from the blue line. Parker Bell also received an assisted on the goal.

The game held tied at one until Spokane pulled ahead mid-second period with a goal from Kooper Gizowski.

Tomas Suchanek played in net for the Americans. The Czech Republic native stopped 32 of 34 shots faced in tonight's loss.

Down one goal, the Americans pulled Suchanek with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Cordel Larson added an empty net goal for the Chiefs putting Tri-City down 3-1.

The Americans continued to battle in the final seconds of the game as Sloan added one final goal to put the Ams within one with 30-seconds remaining. Bell gained control of the puck in the right-side corner and skated around Chiefs defenseman Logan Cunningham as he made a pass in front of the net to Sloan who tapped in the goal.

Bell led the Ams in preseason scoring with four goals and three assists.

Spokane out shot Tri-City 34-29.

The Americans will open the 2021-22 regular season on Friday at the Toyota Center as they take on the Portland Winterhawks in their home opener. Click here for more ticket information.
