VICTORIA, BC- The Prince George Cougars earned an 8-5 win over Victoria Royals on Vancouver Island Saturday night at Save-on-Foods Memorial Arena.
The Cougars finish their 2021 Pre-Season schedule with a 2-2-0-0 record and now head home to prepare for their Regular Season Home Opener against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday, October 2nd.
Carter MacAdams paced the offence with a hat-trick, including scoring the game-winning goal in the third period. Jonny Hooker, Caden Brown, and Hudson Thornton scored in the first period, as the Cougars led 3-1 after 20-minutes. Majid Kaddoura and MacAdams scored in the second to give Prince George a 5-3 lead after two. MacAdams scored twice more in the third, including an empty-net goal. Blake Eastman found the back of the net in the final frame as well.
Tyler Brennan picked up the win net, as he went the distance and stopped 24 shots. Ty Young backed him up.
Saturday had some bite to it, as defenceman Aiden Reeves spared with the Royals' Tanner Scott in the third period. Also, Mitch Kohner and Victoria's Igor Zborovskiy were given misconducts for their wrestling match in the final frame.
Craig Armstrong (Injury), Taylor Gauthier, Ephram McNutt, Ethan Samson (NHL Camp), Mike Svenson, and Koehn Ziemmer (Injury) did not play.
