New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - With the 2010 Eastern League All-Star Game now fading in the rear-view mirror, the never-say-die Rock Cats are preparing to return to New Britain Stadium tomorrow night (7/22) to do baseball battle for four days and nights with the red-hot New Hampshire Fisher Cats, EL partners of the American League's Toronto Blue Jays. This 10th Homestand of the 2010 Season will kick off at 7:05 PM tomorrow evening and continue through Friday night, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. And as this is family-friendly Rock Cats Baseball, there will be lots of pre-game, in-game, and post-game fun for fans of all ages over the next four days at New Britain Stadium. Here are the details:
THURSDAY NIGHT, JULY 22nd, 7:05 PM:
The last `stand in the month of July will feature the hard-charging New Hampshire Fisher Cats, one the top teams in the League this year, as the Rock Cats' sole on-field opposition for four consecutive days and nights. This Granite State bunch is talented, but the Rock Cats are rested and ready to knock them off! Beyond the baseball, we've invited some rather attractive guests to the ballpark on Thursday night - a group that may serve to distract everybody from the baseball business at hand! Its Divas at the Diamond Night in New Britain as our favorite ladies can enjoy an elegant Wine Tasting, Buffet Dinner, and a chance to win a free Beauty Makeover from the good people at Cut Loose Hair Studio in Berlin! Tickets to this delightful evening are only $30 with the proceeds going to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Movement! If that doesn't make you smile and set your heart a thumpin', how about the fabulous on-field entertainer, BirdZirk! He'll also be with us on Thursday night - and we'll keep him away from the Merlot because he already puts on the wildest and craziest show in sports. Moreover, our friends from the Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) will be here again to remind us all about the dangers of Inhalant Abuse. This continues to be an "under the radar" problem for lots of kids (and thus families) across the country, and we'll get a quick refresher from the experts tomorrow night. The ACE people are also sponsoring a Player Poster Giveaway tomorrow and 2010 Eastern League All-Star Ben Revere is featured! Like Ben, this is good! Finally, gates will open at 5:35 PM tomorrow for the open-to-the-public Twisted Tea Social Hour with Food and Drink Specials in the open-air Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar & Grill. Come early, stay late!
FRIDAY NIGHT, JULY 23RD, 7:05 PM:
The Fisher Cats are back at 7:05 PM on Friday night and so will be many of our valued neighbors - its Polish-American Heritage Night at the Stadium! Join us for terrific ethnic foods, pre-game music provided by the popular Patty and the Gang, and related activities as the Rock Cats recognize another group that has contributed so much to our city, the nation, and the world. Local guests will be on hand to throw ceremonial First Pitches and, moreover, there will be a special tribute to the President and other members of the Polish government who were so tragically lost in last April's airplane crash in Russia.
At 5:35 PM - a Heineken Happy Hour will get underway in the upper-level Heineken Hot Corner. There will be drink specials offered, which should help to wash down the pierogis and golumkis being served down on the concourse! Last - but hardly least - as it's Friday night, it's also the occasion for a Post Game Pyrotekniks Special Effects Show. Presented by our friends at Levy & Droney, this is a very entertaining and exciting way to conclude the evening!
SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 24th, 2:35 PM:
The two `Cats - Rock and Fisher - will square off at the special start time of 2:35 PM on Saturday afternoon, so as to accommodate our buddies from the Special Olympics of Connecticut who are enjoying their Nutmeg Games nearby. In advance of the mid-afternoon start-time, we're going to have a Pre-Game Block Party outside the Stadium gates, where there will be games, inflatables, music, and other treats for fans of all ages, starting at 12 Noon. This pre-game enjoyment is sponsored by our pals at Guida's Milk & Ice Cream, and D'Angelo's. For adults, there will be a "Sammy Saturday" Social Hour at the upper-level Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar & Grill with food and drink specials, also starting at 12 Noon. About the time the afternoon game gets underway, we'll have a special guest with us as SpongeBob Squarepants will be here to greet and chuckle with his many Connecticut and Western Mass fans! This popular character's appearance is sponsored by the good folks at Comcast. Moreover, for those who want to come out for a little extra fun, Saturday is also the date when the New Britain Police and Fire Departments are going to play each other in a pre-game Softball Game for charityand local bragging rights!
SUNDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 25th, 1:35 PM:
The 4-game series with New Hampshire will conclude with this Sunday afternoon game starting at the regular time of 1:35 PM. And there will be a load of fun activity going on in and around the Stadium on Sunday afternoon. It's Bristol Day at the park - Bristol, CT that is - and folks from that award-winning city will be on hand for ceremonial First Pitches and more! It's also Scooper Sunday at the Stadium whereby fans and families can enjoy unlimited scoops of nine different delicious ice creams for a very nominal price. This one is for charity with all proceeds going to The Good Samaritans of Connecticut. Given the humid weather we've experienced this Summer - we should have staged this delightful event every Sunday! Great people, great cause, cold and creamy treats - you can't beat this one! In addition, the first 500 fans through the gates on Sunday will receive an unpainted Rocky Bobblehead - our youngest fans are invited to take it home, paint it themselves and then bring it back for display at the `Cats August 29th game on Sunday afternoon against Bowie. They'll not only get a free ticket to that game, but a chance to win additional prizes! "Paint Your Own Bobblehead" is sponsored by the folks at Click It or Ticket! Last but hardly least - as its Sunday - its Family Fun Day at the Stadium where kids 12-and-under get to do a Post Game Run- of- the-Bases! This is a thrill for kids; Rocky will greet them with a high-paw at home plate. All this kid-centered fun is sponsored by the generous people at the Barnum Financial Group - a terrific group who have also designated this Sunday as the day they shall make dreams come true for over 100 needy boys and girls in our area who, unbeknownst to them, will be getting new bikes on the field before the game. Wow! Finally, our friends at the VNA of Connecticut are also making this Sunday another Senior Sunday when many of our most loyal fans can enjoy the game and receive tips on how to lead a long, high-quality, dignified, and independent life. We hope their advice includes frequent attendance at Rock Cats games - they bring a lot of class to the joint!
Good seats remain available for each of the four games on this upcoming 10th Homestand of 2010. Fans seeking tickets may obtain them by visiting the New Britain Stadium Box Office in person, or by calling the Rock Cats Ticket Office at (860) 224-8383. Fans interested in the convenience of on-line purchasing may secure tickets in that manner by visiting the club's website at www.rockcats.com.
