Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The first-place Altoona Curve returns home on Thursday, July 22 to begin a short but jam-packed four-game homestand with the Trenton Thunder (AA - New York Yankees). The four-game series features two giveaway nights, an appearance by Reggy - The Purple Party Dude, and a fireworks show.
It all starts on Thursday at 7 p.m. when the first 2,000 fans through the turnstiles at BCB will receive an Andrew McCutchen Logo Ball Giveaway courtesy of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program. The logo ball is the second in a series of three that will be given out this season and features a cartoon-style image of the former Curve and current Pirates' centerfielder. The first logo ball was of 2009 Curve MVP Pedro Alvarez in a similar style. The final one depicts a cartoon likeness of Brad Lincoln and will be handed out on August 5th.
Thursday is also a Weis Buy Thursday, where Weis Preferred Shoppers' Card holders can receive $2 off Grandstand tickets at the box office, and a Thirsty Thursday with $2.00 16 oz. Miller Lite drafts and $1.50 22 oz. sodas during the game.
During the day on Thursday, the third annual Pennsylvania Home Run Derby presented by the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and the PA Association of Community Bankers will take place at Blair County Ballpark. The event, which begins at 9 a.m., will help raise funds for breast cancer research.
An Altoona Curve Hat will be handed out to the first 2,000 fans into BCB on Friday night courtesy of Glass Mender Mirror & Plate and N.E.W. Customer Service Corporation. After the 7 p.m. game with Trenton, kids can run the bases.
On Saturday, Reggy - The Purple Party Dude makes his return to Blair County Ballpark to entertain the crowd during the 7 p.m. game with the Thunder. It's also Scout Night at the ballpark with scout troops camping out on the field overnight. Before the sleepover, all kids can once again run the bases.
The quick homestand wraps up on Sunday with Sunday Night Fireworks presented by Ramada Altoona. Prior to the game, fans can come play catch in the outfield and after the game kids can run the bases. We'll welcome the residents of Allegany County and Cumberland to the ballpark on Sunday for the 6 p.m. game.
It's also CMT Awareness Night as we try to raise awareness about Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disorder. The CMT Association will be auctioning off a team-autographed Altoona Curve jersey and selling bracelets to help raise funds for CMT research.
