Rochester Rhinos Take on Toronto FC on the Road
June 10, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Rochester Rhinos News Release
ROCHESTER, NY- The Rochester Rhinos travel to Canada for the second week in a row, this time facing Toronto FC II. Toronto is returning home from a trip to Charlotte where they tied the Independence 2-2 in a game that was cut short by poor weather.
The game can be viewed live on the USL Match Center.
Toronto (2-7-3) hasn't seen a win since May 11 against the Richmond Kickers. Their only other win of the season came against FC Montreal, who Rochester beat last week 2-0. Rochester (5-2-3) currently holds fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings and is looking for another win before they face first place Louisville at home on the 18.
Christian Volesky looks to remain an offensive threat for Rochester. The forward has shown to be a thorn in the side for Montreal, scoring his eighth goal in just six games against Montreal FC. The team's leading scorer with four goals on the season, three of which came against Montreal the other against Pittsburgh, should be looking to find continued success against other teams in the league. Saturday's match is a chance to prove that he can be a dominant offensive player when not facing the longtime rivals.
Defender Joe Farrell has also proven to be a key member of the Rhinos offense scoring three goals so far this season, two against Bethlehem Steel at the Rhinos last home game. Key players to watch for Toronto FC II include leading scorers Raheem Edwards (4) and Malik Johnson (3). Toronto had success in their last match capitalizing on Charlotte's defensive mistakes, so the Rhinos defense should be striving for a perfect execution in Saturday's match.
Last year, the teams met a total of four times throughout the USL season. The 2015 Rhinos were 3-0-1 against Toronto FC II.
