Rochester Red Wings News Release
ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Red Wings will celebrate Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend in July at Frontier Field, a month-long initiative to inspire women in the Rochester area to support baseball and community. Red Wings' President/CEO Naomi Silver made the announcement.
For a $35 registration fee, fans can walk around the warning track at Frontier Field with the women of the Red Wings' front office every business day from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. The fee also includes participation in a baseball clinic with Red Wings' players and coaches on August 18, one raffle ticket for the grand-prize diamond baseball necklace from West and Company, two tickets to any remaining regular-season game featuring the Red Wings or Empire State Yankees, and a "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" limited-edition t-shirt.
"The women of the Red Wings simply adore the game of baseball and we want to share our experiences in the game with the Rochester community," said Silver, who was recently recognized as CEO of the Year by the Rochester Public Relations Society of America Chapter. "We want to walk with the community, talk with the community, and give back to the community. We hope Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend accomplishes these goals and inspires fans, both men and women, to get involved."
All monies will be donated to United Way of Greater Rochester. The drawing for the diamond necklace, which is being created by jeweler David Nytch specifically for this occasion, will be held at the Red Wings' game on Friday, August 10. Also on that date, all registered fans are invited to participate in a parade around the field in a special pre-game ceremony.
As part of the month-long initiative, the Red Wings are asking all registered fans to send photographs of themselves walking anywhere in the community while wearing their Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend t-shirt. The photos will be shared on the team's official Web site, RedWingsBaseball.com and displayed on the Frontier Field video board throughout the month. Owners of the three best photos, as voted on by the women of the Red Wings' front-office staff, will throw Ceremonial First Pitches prior to the August 10 game.
In addition to the raffle for the grand-prize diamond necklace, a daily raffle will be conducted at each of the 20 games at Frontier Field in July. Tickets will be sold in the main breezeway through the fifth inning of each game. Among the prizes every night is a chance to be a finalist for the baseball diamond necklace drawing.
Dates of the Walk and Talk with the Red Wings Women are July 2-6, 9-13, 16-18, 20, 23-25, 27, and 30-31. Fans can register for Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend at 12:00 noon prior to any Walk and Talk with the Red Wings Women, during any game at Frontier Field, at the Red Wings' office during business hours, and by phone at (585) 454-1001.
