LEHIGH FIVES ALL AROUND: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the 3rd game of their 4-game series at Lehigh Valley (Phillies). Following tomorrow's series and roadtrip finale, the Red Wings will return to Frontier Field for a 2-game series against the Empire State Yankees Saturday-Sunday. Then it's back on the road for a 2-game set at Pawtucket (Red Sox) Monday-Tuesday. Rochester next Wednesday begins a 6-game homestand that leads into the All-Star Break, featuring a pair of 3-game series vs. Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley.

a The Red Wings and IronPigs will play a doubleheader on July 8, the last day of action before the All-Star Break. Gametime is 12:05 p.m.

ROSTER NEWS: The Minnesota Twins tomorrow will recall right-handed pitcher Kyle Waldrop from Triple-A Rochester. To make room for him on the roster the Twins have optioned righthander Jeff Manship to Rochester. Waldrop is the 11th player, the 6th pitcher, to get promoted to the Twins from the Red Wings.

a Waldrop began the season on the 15-Day Disabled List with a strained right elbow. The 26-year-old was reinstated from the DL and optioned to Rochester June 1. Waldrop posted no record, 2 saves, and a 1.26 ERA in 9 games with the Red Wings. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2011, going 1-0 with a 5.73 ERA in 7 appearances.

a Manship registered a 10.97 ERA in 8 games with the Twins after his May 27 recall. He allowed 9 runs in 2.1 innings in his last 3 outings. The 27-year-old is 4-1 with a 3.08 ERA in 12 games (4 starts) with the Red Wings.

STEADY IMPROVEMENT: The Red Wings have won 4 of their last 6 games and are 28-26 beginning May 3, playing better than .500 baseball for more than a 3rd of the season. That record includes a 23-19 mark beginning May 15. Also, since sitting a season-worst 10 games below .500 at 20-30 following a 4-1 loss at Charlotte (White Sox) May 28, the Red Wings are 17-12 in their last 29 games.

a A win tonight would make the Red Wings 4 games under .500, the closest they would be to the break-even point since May 9, when they were 14-18 after 5-2 loss at Pawtucket.

BABY STEPS: At 37-42, the Red Wings are 6 games better than they were at this point last year (31-48) and 8 games better than they were in 2010 (29-50). Rochester is off to its best 79-game start since going 38-41 in 2009.

A COCA-COLA CLASSIC: The Red Wings last night snapped a 7-game losing streak at Coca-Cola Park, logging their first win here since a 6-2 triumph May 29, 2011. The victory also broke a 16-game losing streak at Coke-inspired ballparks. The Wings currently have a 9-game skid at Buffalo's (Mets) Coca-Cola Field.

a Rochester's 9-game losing streak at Buffalo is its longest current skid against an opponent on the road. The Wings last won in Buffalo in the 2nd game of an April 19, 2011 doubleheader, a 2-0 triumph in 7 innings. The Red Wings return to Coca-Cola Field August 25-28.

FIRST THING'S FIRST: The Red Wings have scored a first-inning run in 3 straight games and in 5 of their last 6 contests. Rochester last plated a first-inning run in 4 straight games April 22-26, a season high. The Wings went 1-3 in that span.

a The Wings have scored a first-inning run in 21 of their 79 games (27 percent) and are 13-8 in those contests, including a win last night.
