RED WINGS NOTES
BACK TO EARTH: With the loss, Rochester falls to .500 for the first time since April 24 when the club was 9-9...the Wings have lost six straight games, their second longest losing streak of the year (9 games, 6/7 - 6/15)...the Red Wings are now 12-28 over their last 40 contests after starting the season 35-19...the team's 18 hits surrendered tonight are their most in a game this season (prev high: 17, 6/11 at St Paul) and their 12 runs allowed are their second most given up in a contest this season.
COCOS P-LO-COS: OF Josh Palacios' third-inning single extended his on-base streak to 28 games and his hit-streak to 15 games...both are currently the longest active streaks in the International League...since his on-base streak began on June 19, Palacios is batting a team-leading .358 (38-for-106)...the former Auburn Tiger is just one game away from tying Nolan Gorman's (MEM) 16 game hit-streak, the longest in the IL this season...it would also be the longest-hit streak by a Wing since Nick Gordon had a 16-game hit-streak in 2019.
VEINTE FOR JOEY: With a two-run bomb in the third inning, 1B Joey Meneses became the fastest Red Wing to reach 20 home runs in a season since Adam Brett Walker did so in the same number of games in 2016 (91 games)...the veteran is just three home runs away from his career-high of 23 bombs from his 2018 MVP season...Meneses ended up finishing the game going 2-for-5 with three RBI, marking his 27th multi-hit game this season (second most on club, Stevenson, 30)....the Mexico-native now ranks second in the International League in long-balls (20), just one back of League Leader Tristan Gray (21, DUR).
STANDING O FOR JUSTIN MORNEAU: The Red Wings inducted 14-year MLB Veteran and former Wing Justin Morneau into the Red Wings Hall of Fame... the Canadian-born first baseman played 143 games (2003 & 2004) for the Red Wings and hit .288 with 34 doubles and 105 RBI, and was named to the Triple-A All Star team in 2004...he won the American League Most Valuable Player Award in 2006 with the Twins and led the National League in batting average with the Rockies in 2014 (.319).
¬â¹RAILRIDERS NOTES
NO CHUCKING FOR WALDI: After going just 2.2 innings and giving up two earned runs, Scranton starter LHP Ken Waldichuk has an 8.53 ERA against Rochester this season (6.1 IP/6 ER)...against teams that aren't the Red Wings, Waldichuk has a 2.63 ERA (37.2 IP/11ER)...coming into tonight, Rochester led the International League in batting average versus lefties (.280) with five players on the current roster ranking in the top 20 in batting average against southpaws.
