Rochester has 41 hits in this series -- the Wings had a total of 53 hits over their entire 8-game homestand before traveling to Syracuse on Tuesday... The Wings have collected 15 extra-base hits in the last 3 games -- Over the prior 13 games, Rochester had just 17 extra-base knocks.
-Even with 6 doubles on Thursday, the Wings are still last in the IL with 24 doubles on the season. However, the Wings went from last in the IL in extra base hits on Tuesday to T-12 entering play Friday.

BERNIER'S BIG DAY: Red Wings shortstop, Doug Bernier, went 5-for-5 with a double, run scored and 4 RBI in game 3 of the series on Thursday. The 5 hits set a career high for Bernier who previously collected 4 hits on 5 different occasions (last: 7/4/11). It also was the most hits in a game by a Red Wings player since Rene Tosoni had 5 hits on 5/21/12 vs GWN... Bernier also tied a career high with 4 RBI -- which he had done on 4 previous occasions (last: 7/25/11).
-Bernier is riding a 5-game hit streak where he's hitting .500 (10-for-20) with 5 runs scored and 5 RBI.
TRIPLE-LESS NO MORE: Brandon Boggs recorded the first triple of the 2013 season for the Red Wings, ripping a 3-run triple on the second pitch he saw after play resumed in game 2 on Thursday. The 3-run, three-bagger gave the Wings a 9-5 lead in the 11th inning. The Wings were the only team in minor league baseball yet to hit a triple this season and just 1 of 2 teams in all of pro baseball without one. The Atlanta Brave are now the only team without a triple in all of baseball. Joe Benson would add the Wings second three-bagger of the day and season in game 3 of the series.
-Last season, the Wings were T-5th in the IL with 27 triples... Clete Thomas led the Wings w/ 5 triples last year.
NO LEADS SAFE IN 'CUSE: In the last 4 games between the Wings and Chiefs a team has comeback from at least a 5-run deficit to tie the game. In game 3 on Thursday, Rochester built a 7-2 lead through 5.5 innings before a 5-run 6th inning tied the game at 7-7. Rochester would plate a run in each of the last 3 innings to become the first team in this 4-game stretch to lose a 5-run lead and still win... In game 2 on Wednesday, Syracuse bolted out to a 5-0 lead thru 4 frames before a 4-run 8th inning from Rochester knotted the game at 5-5... It was the Wings that jumped out to a 5-0 lead Tuesday after 2.5 innings, however the Chiefs came all the way back to tie in the 8th before winning in the 13th inning... In their last game (9/2) at Syracuse in 2012, the Red Wings blew a 6-0 first inning lead -- their largest lead relinquished to lose last season.
WONDERFUL WALTERS: RHP P.J. Walters tossed the first complete game shutout of his career in his last start on Sunday in game 2 of a doubleheader and the first CG-SHO in the International League this season. After allowing a career-high 13 hits on 4/15 vs SWB, Walters allowed just 2 hits and 5 base runners (one via error) Sunday. The 28-year-old struck out 5 and walked one while throwing 97 pitches (64 strikes). It was the 7th CG of Walters career and first since 5/22/12 when he went the distance against the Chicago White Sox while with the Twins.
-The last Red Wing to throw a 7-inning, 2-hitter was Tom Shearn on 8/6/08 vs LHV
-Four Red Wings threw CG's in 2012 (including Walters)... the last CG-SHO was thrown by RHP Nick Blackburn on 7/8/12 (G1) vs LHV (8 inn.)
DOUBLING DINKELMAN: INF/OF Brian Dinkelman set a career high with 3 doubles in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Chiefs.
Last season, no Red Wing hit more than 2 doubles in any game.
