HEATING UP: The Red Wings have won 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5 since a 6-game losing streak. At 18-24, Rochester is off to its best start since the 2009 club went 21-21 in its first 42 games.

a The Red Wings are 15-12 at Frontier Field, including an 11-8 mark as the home team. Rochester is unbeaten in 6 of its 8 series along Morrie Silver Way, going 3-2-3 in those series overall. One more win in this series would assure the Wings of being unbeaten in 7 of their 9 series at Frontier.

a The Red Wings are 9-10 in May and are within reach of their first winning calendar month since August 2009, when they went 17-15. Rochester would need to go 7-4 the rest of the way this month to accomplish the feat.

COLE IN WON: The Red Wings last night scored more than 5 runs in a game for just the 3rd time, joining their 7-run effort Opening Day at Syracuse (Nationals) and a 6-run effort May 10 at Pawtucket (Red Sox). Rochester also banged out a season-high 14 hits last night, including Tsuyoshi Nishioka's first home run on American soil.

a Cole DeVries worked 8.0-plus innings for the longest outing by a Red Wings starter this season. He fell 1.0 inning shy of Rochester's first 9-inning complete game since Jeff Manship twirled a 4-hit shutout vs. Norfolk (Orioles) June 3, 2010.

I'LL HAVE ANOTHER: With victories by Liam Hendriks and Cole DeVries in the last 2 games, Red Wings starting pitchers have won a season-high 2 straight games for the 3rd time. A win by Luke French today would give Rochester starters 3 straight wins for the first time since August 12-14, 2008, when Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey, and Anthony Swarzak turned the trick.

a Red Wings starters are 12-12 with a 3.72 ERA (91 ER/220.0 IP) in 2012.

a DeVries last night picked up the starting staff's 12th win in Rochester's 42nd game. Red Wings starters didn't notch their 12th win of 2011 until their 51st contest, when Eric Hacker worked 6.0 scoreless innings in an 8-0 victory vs. Toledo (Tigers) June 2.

GOT THAT OUT OF OUR SYSTEM: The Red Wings allowed a season-high 11 runs May 12 at Syracuse, their 3rd straight game surrendering 7 or more runs. In 7 games since, the club has given up no more than 6 runs in a game (26 total) and an average of 3.7 per game. Wings' starters are 3-1 with a 3.61 ERA (17 ER/42.1 IP) in that same span while relievers are 1-2 with a 2.18 ERA (5 ER/20.2 IP).

SLAMMING THE DOOR SHUT: The Red Wings have recorded a save in 17 of their 18 victories, ranking 2nd in the International League to Lehigh Valley's (Phillies) 19. Four different relievers have at least one save, including Anthony Slama (8), Casey Fien (6), Tyler Robertson (2), and Lester Oliveros (1).

a Slama is already one save shy of matching Jim Hoey's team high of 9 from last year. Slama has converted all but one of his save opportunities. He has worked 14.2 consecutive scoreless innings and has tossed scoreless relief in 15 of his 16 outings overall. Slama recorded just one save in an injury-shortened 2011 season.

WHO NEEDS HOME RUNS ANYWAY?: With Tsuyoshi Nishioka's 2-run homer last night vs. Gwinnett, the Red Wings pulled out of the IL home run cellar with 15, one more than Indianapolis (Pirates). Rochester last night won for just the 5th time when they hit a home run, improving to 5-10. The Red Wings are 13-14 in their other 27 games.

a 11 different Red Wings have homered, 6 of which are not on the active roster. Those Wings on the active roster with at least one home run are Matt Carson (1), Pedro Florimon (2), Tsuyoshi Nishioka (1), Rene Rivera (2), and Danny Valencia (1).

a The Red Wings rank last in the IL with 129 runs scored.
