RHP Matt Harvey (3-1, 5.74) vs. RHP ‚¬â€¹Daniel Ponce de Leon (5-9, 7.78)

WE'RE SO HOT IT HURTS: The Hot Wings extended their win streak to three-straight with last night's 5-1 victory over Norfolk...RHP Cade Cavalli worked 7.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits and two walks while punching out 11 batters, the most by an individual Wing this season...LHP Francisco Perez and RHP Reed Garrett came on in relief and held the Tides hitless through 2.0 innings while striking out four....Rochester's offense produced eight hits in the win with seven of the Wings' starting nine picking up a base knock...CF Alex Call and C Riley Adams each logged multi-RBI performances with two apiece...Call went yard and DH Jake Noll hit a double, picking up the only XBHs of the contest for Rochester...RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon will get the nod for the Wings this afternoon as they look to extend their win streak to four straight.

2022 > 2021: With the victory last night, the Wings' win total moved to 50 games for the first time since 2019, passing the 2021 squad who collected 49 total wins in 111 games...the squad has now won three-straight after dropping 19 consecutive contests.

CAN'T TOUCH KKKKKKKKKKKADE: RHP Cade Cavalli took the ball for the Wings last night and threw seven innings of one-run ball while setting a season-high among Rochester pitchers with 11 strikeouts, the most since Lewis Thorpe on April 23, 2019 (12)...across his past six starts dating back to July 6, the highly-touted prospect has worked 31.2 innings and allowed just five earned (1.42 ERA)...his 35 strikeouts to nine walks allowed is good for a 3.89 K/BB.

DAHLS TO THE WALL: RF David Dahl picked up a hit in four at-bats including a run scored to extend his on-base streak to 11 games...in his first 17 games with Rochester after signing a minor league contract with Washington on July 22, the lefty has collected at least one knock in 12 of those games, including 11 hits in 39 at-bats (.282) in the month of August.

POTENTIAL SPAM CALLER: CF Alex Call went 1-for-3 with his 13th homer of the year, two RBI and a run in last night's contest...Call has reached base safely 11 times in his first five games as a Red Wing...the Ball State alumni has hit safely in seven-straight games (10-for-25) dating back to 8/4 with Columbus...following yesterday's contest, and between two teams (ROC & COL), the Minnesota-native's .423 OBP ranks second in all of the International League behind only former Columbus teammate, OF Will Benson (.426)...the righty has now walked just four times less than he has struck out this season (51 BB/55 SO).

ARMED AND DANGEROUS: Red Wings' pitchers collected 15 strikeouts in last night's win, good for fifth most in any game this season...RHP Cade Cavalli logged 11 of those K's...the Wings are tied fourth in strikeouts with 1017 Ks in 955.1 IP this season in the International League, good for a K/9 of 9.6...Rochester pitchers held Norfolk to just three hits in the win, the fewest allowed in a game since July 30 when Scranton also logged three against the Wings.

PONCE DE REPLAY: RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon will toe the rubber for the Wings as they look to secure their fourth-straight win...in his most recent start (8/9), the California-native tossed 1.2 innings and allowed four earned runs on three hits and one walk...excluding that appearance, the righty has punched out 22 batters across 19.1 IP since June 25, good for a K/9 of 10.4...across his last three outings, Ponce de Leon hasn't given up more than three hits, allowing exactly that many in each of those appearances.

FEDERALLY LEGALIZED MENESES: Former Wings slugger Joey Meneses went 2-for-3 with a home run...in nine games since making his Major League debut on August 2, he is 12-for-30 (.400) with five home runs, six RBI, two walks and eight runs scored...His 12 hits are tied with Ian Desmond for the most hits by a Nationals player (2005-present) in his first nine Major League games...his five homers through nine games are tied for the second most all-time behind only Trevor Story, who hit seven home runs, through a player's first nine games of their career.
