Pitching tells the tale for IronPigs

(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (61-50) pitching staff faced one batter above the minimum on Sunday in their 3-1 win over the Charlotte Knights (43-68). IronPigs pitching gave up just two hits in the game.

Colton Eastman pitched three no-hit innings to start the game. He issued just one walk and struck out six batters. He left with a 1-0 lead, as Yairo Munoz scored Ali Castillo on a groundout against Parker Markel (1-2). James Marvel (4-6) pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Eastman. Bubby Rossman followed up with two scoreless innings pitched.

Munoz homered against Declan Cronin in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Lehigh Valley a 2-0 lead. The home run for Munoz was his sixth of the season. Andrew Vasquez tossed a scoreless inning of relief in the top of the seventh inning.

The Knights lone run of the game came against Nick Duron in the top of the eighth inning as Tyler Neslony hit an RBI single that scored Romy Gonzalez. Dustin Peterson's RBI double against Dan Winkler in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Lehigh Valley a 3-1 lead.

Tyler Cyr earned his fifth save of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth inning for Lehigh Valley.

The IronPigs are off on Monday and then will head to Buffalo to begin a six-game series starting on Tuesday evening at Sahlen Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
