July 12, 2022 - South Atlantic League (SAL)
Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC- The Crawdads dropped the series opener to the Wilmington Blue Rocks by a score of 6-0 despite a stellar start by Tekoah Roby.
Wilmington hit a solo homerun on the first pitch of the game off Roby. The right hander settled down after, allowing just one more hit across seven innings of work. He walked two and struck out five.
The game got further out of reach for the 'Dads in the eighth as Wilmington scored five runs. All five runs were charged to reliever John Matthews in his one inning. Destin Dotson pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
The Crawdads bats didn't get much momentum against Wilmington's pitching staff. Luisangel Acuna and Cristian Inoa managed the only two base hits for the 'Dads. Acuna, Inoa, and Cody Freeman also drew walks.
The series will continue tomorrow evening with Shark Night. It is also Kids Win Wednesday, presented by Arby's and Wine Wednesday, brought to you by Catawba Farms and Carolina Vines. First Responder Appreciation Week will continue thanks to Hendrick Honda Hickory and first responders can get two free tickets to the game.
