New York Yankees C Ben Rortvedt Begins Rehab Assignment with Hudson Valley Renegades

The New York Yankees have announced the following roster moves effecting the Hudson Valley Renegades.

ADD:

* C Ben Rortvedt commences MLB Rehab Assignment with Hudson Valley. Rortvedt will wear No. 38.

ACTIVATE:

* INF T.J. Rumfield returned from minor league rehab assignment and activated off the 60-day Injured List. Rumfield will wear No. 10.

Rortvedt, 24, was acquired by the New York Yankees in a trade with the Minnesota Twins on March 13, 2022 along with INF Josh Donaldson and INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa ‚¬â€¹ ‚¬â€¹ ‚¬â€¹ in exchange for C Gary Sanchez and INF Gio Urshela. In 39 MLB games with the Twins in 2021, Rortvedt hit .169/.229/.281 and ranked 3rd among American League catchers in Total Zone Runs (4). He becomes the second MLB rehabber for the Renegades under the Yankees affiliation, joining RHP Luis Severino who pitched in one game for Hudson Valley in 2021.

Rortvedt is the first Renegades Major League rehabber to play at Dutchess Stadium since RHP Doug Waechter pitched four games in 2007 and the fourth-ever in team history. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins out of Verona High School in Verona, Wisconsin.

He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on May 17, 2022, performed by Yankees Head Team Physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

The Renegades roster now stands at 30 active, 4 Injured List and 1 MLB Rehab.
