Robinson and Fisher Lead Bees to Victory

Clinton, IA (Aug 14, 2008) - The Burlington Bees evened up a three-game series with Clinton after defeating the LumberKings 6-4 Thursday night. Brent Fisher made his first appearance of the season for the Bees and picked up the win after pitching 4.2 innings allowing just an unearned run.

Clinton opened up the scoring by putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Down 2-0, the Bees began scored their first run of the ballgame in the top of the second inning. Jason Taylor led the inning off with a single and then stole second base. After two outs were recorded, Jamar Walton hit a single to score Taylor. The Bees took the lead in the third inning by scoring three runs. With two outs, Johnny Giavotella and Mike Moustakas each hit singles before Taylor was walked to load the bases. Clint Robinson then came to the plate and laced a double to deep centerfield to score all three runners and give the Bees a 4-2 lead.

Clinton scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut their deficit to just one run. The Bees then came back with two more runs in the seventh inning. David Lough led the inning off by hitting his 12th homerun of the season. Giavotella then hit a single, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch to finish out the scoring for the Bees. Clinton scored one run in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run on base but could not make a comeback.

Luis Cota got the start for the Bees. In 4.1 innings, he allowed three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Fisher made his first appearance of the season for the Bees. He went 4.2 innings and allowed just an unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

The Bees outhit Clinton 11-9. Robinson led the way going 3-4 with three RBI. Giavotella and Walton each had two hits in the game.

The Bees conclude the three game series with Clinton Friday night. Alex Caldera is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
