
Broncos End 2008 Season with Victory over Coyotes

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos brought out their bats for the season finale as they beat the Edinburg Coyotes by a score of 11-3 on Thursday night at Veterans Field. The Broncos 2008 ULB season is now over. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).
The Coyotes got on the scoreboard in the 1st inning. With 2 outs Daryl Jones doubled and then went to 3rd on a wild pitch throw by Broncos starter Santo Hernandez. Argelis Nunez then hit a double scoring Jones making the score 1-0.
Edinburg would add on to their lead in the 2nd inning. Amado German led off the inning with a solo home run, his 6th of the season. Then with 2 outs, Robert Matlock walked and scored from 1st on a triple by Angelo Fermin. That would make the score 3-0.
The Broncos would threaten in their half of the 2nd. Ivan Reyes walked to start off the inning. Dwayne White and Arnoldo Ponce then singled to load the bases. Coyotes starter Aaron Guerra would get both Johnny Lopez and Ben Tinius to strike out. Then with Nick Enciso batting, a pitch got by catcher Patrick Gaylord. Reyes tried scoring from 3rd but was thrown out ending the Broncos inning.
Laredo would finally crack the scoreboard in the 3rd inning in a big way. With 1 out Sean Gamble hit an infield single, and then scored on a double by Anthony Bennett. Matt Imwalle would then hit a rbi double scoring Bennett. Imwalle went to 3rd on a ground out, but then scored on a double by Dwayne White. Arnoldo Ponce followed with an infield single moving White to 3rd. Johnny Lopez then walked to load the bases. Ben Tinius came up and hit a 2 run single scoring both White and Ponce. Thad gave the Broncos a 5-3 lead.
The Broncos would add to their lead in the 4th inning. Sean Gamble led off with a home run, his 1st of the season. That would give the Broncos a 6-3 lead.
The Coyotes starter Aaron Guerra struggled in his 4 innings of work as Issac Daniels came in to pitch in the 5th inning. Laredo kept their hitting going as Johnny Lopez led off with a single and then scored on a double by Ben Tinius. Tinius would then go to 3rd on a wild pitch by Daniels. With 2 outs Anthony Bennett singled in Tinius making the score 8-3.
The Broncos would add to their lead in 6th inning. Arnoldo Ponce led off with a walk and then went to 2nd when Johnny Lopez was hit by a pitch. With 1 out both runners moved up to 2nd and 3rd on a groundout. Sean Gamble then reached on an error by Angelo Fermin which would score both Ponce and Lopez to make the score 10-3.
Santo Hernandez pitched well for the Broncos in his 6 innings of work. He gave up 3 runs, on 6 hits, he walked only 3 batters and struck out 10. Hernandez left in line for the win as Richard Bartlett came into the game.
The Broncos would add on another run in the 7th inning. Matt Imwalle led off the inning with a double. He would later score with 2 outs when Arnoldo Ponce singled him in making the score 11-3.
The Broncos bullpen of Richard Bartlett, Dan Sausville, and Henry Lozado would shut down the Coyotes through the 7th, 8th , and 9th innings, as the Broncos ended their 2008 season with a 11-3 victory.
The Broncos scored 11 runs on 15 hits and committed 0 errors, while the Coyotes scored 3 runs on 8 hits and committed 2 errors.
The Broncos end the year with a record of 39-48. The Broncos will be back in action next year when they play their 2009 season right here, at Veterans Field.
