Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The Kernels return on Saturday, August 16 to open a four game home stand with the Beloit Snappers. Here's a look at what's going on at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium:
August 16-19 vs. Beloit Snappers
It's one of the biggest nights of the season as the Kernels present Cargill/Special Olympics Night on Saturday, August 16th. The Kernels welcome Special Olympians to the game and there will be a large silent auction on the concourse with the proceeds to benefit Special Olympics. After the game, enjoy a great fireworks show, presented by Cargill. The gates open at 6 pm and the Kernels take on Beloit at 7 o'clock.
The Kernels have gone to the dogs for the second time this season as it's Bark in the Park on Sunday, August 17. Bring your four-legged friend to the stadium by purchasing a special 'doggie ticket' as all money from the doggie tickets will go to the Cedar Rapids Animal Shelter that was affected by the June 2008 floods. It's a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Fun Day and the Kernels welcome guests from Linn Area Credit Union to the game. Gates open at 1 pm and the Kernels and Snappers play at 2 pm.
Bring your appetite to the stadium on Monday, August 18 on Mix 96.5 FM / WMT AM 600 Belly Buster Monday. Enjoy all you can eat hamburgers, hot dogs, peanuts and chips for just $7, plus the cost of a ticket. The Kernels welcome fans from Winthrop to their community night at the stadium. Gates open at 6 pm and the Kernels and Snappers play at 7 pm.
A triple play is a rare thing, but there's nothing rare about 1600 ESPN Radio Triple Play Tuesday. Enjoy a combo of a regular sandwich, snack and beer or soda for just six bucks when the Kernels take on Beloit at 7 pm. The Kernels welcome our guests on Gazette Reader Appreciation Night and the gates open at 6 pm.
Visit www.kernels.com You could win a Harley Davidson FXDC motorcycle with chrome detailing as part of the Kernels Foundation season-long Harley raffle. Tickets are on sale for $5 each or five for $20 with the proceeds to go to the YMCA to help rebuild their downtown location. The drawing is Monday, September 1st during the Kernels game vs. Clinton at 2 pm. You need not be present to win, but you must be 16 years or older to buy a ticket or win the raffle. The winner is responsible for the tax, title and license fees. Tickets can be purchased at all Kernel home games and in the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop during normal business hours (10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday). The raffle is sponsored by the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the Kernels Foundation, Metro Harley Davidson, Dale Lee Distributing and 94.1 KRNA.
