Green Bay Rockers News Release

After stranding the bases loaded the first two innings, the Bullfrogs dropped game one of a three game series to the Eau Claire Express 5-2 at Carson Park on Tuesday.

The Bullfrogs loaded the bases in the first two innings on six walks, without picking up a base hit. Jason McMurray struck out to end the threat in the first inning, and David Armendariz did the same in the second.

The Bullfrogs stranded ten runners on the night, nine of which were in the first four innings.

Eau Claire starter Sean Renzi walked eight batters and hit another in four innings of work, but struck out five, gave up only one hit, and held the Bullfrogs scoreless.

In his first start of the season, Bullfrogs pitch Matt Roberts went five scoreless to start before running into trouble in the frantic sixth inning.

All scoring on both sides was done in the sixth frame. The Bullfrogs tacked on two with a Collin Shaw double and a Brian Celsi sacrifice fly to take a 2-0.

The Express responded immediately and took the lead for good in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Four runs were charged to Roberts, who ran into trouble in the frame. He was relieved by Bud Jeter, who gave up one earned run in the five run frame. Five hits amounted to the five runs for the Express, and they took a 5-2 lead.

Josh Scheffert earned his first save of the season for the Express.

The Bullfrogs stranded 10 runners on base during the game.

The Bullfrogs play game two of a three game series tomorrow in Eau Claire. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. You can go to www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to watch or listen live.
