Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MI - For the 4th time in 5 games at C.O. Brown Stadium, the Bombers were shut out at home. This time it was against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters by a final score of 7-0.

All of the runs came early in the game for Rapids, two in the 2nd and five in the 4th against Brian Valente. In the 2nd inning, the Rafters scored on an RBI single by Kenny Towns, and an RBI groundout by Aaron Jones. In the 4th, the first five hitters reached base and came around to score to bust the game wide open.

Offensively, the Bombers were led by Daniel Rockett. He tallied three base hits, and also added yet another web gem in center field. In the top of the 6th, Rockett robbed Pat Kelly of a two-run double by making a Willie Mays style, over-the-shoulder catch.

The rubber match between these two teams is Thursday night at 7:05 ET. Dan Tyson will make his final start of the year for the Bombers.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
