Montreal, Nov. 1st, 2006 - After his stunning performance in the Alouettes' 24-20 win over the Argonauts that clinched the East Division title, running back Robert Edwards was named the CFL Offensive Player of the Week.

Edwards rushed 19 times for 93 yards and scored the winning touchdown. He was particularly outstanding in the second half as he ran 11 times for 69 yards. He gained numerous first downs that allowed the Alouettes to control the ball for the major part of the fourth quarter, leading to the comeback that earned the Alouettes their 14th division title.

With six tackles and a knockdown, Timothy Strickland got a mention for the CFL Defensive Player of the Week honour.

Scotiabank East Championship

The Alouettes are enjoying a few days off before starting preparation for the Scotiabank East Championship that will take place on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at Olympic Stadium. The Alouettes will face the winner of the Scotiabank East Semi-Final between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Argonauts taking place this Sunday, Nov. 5 at Rogers Centre.
