St. George RoadRunners News Release

EDMONTON, AB - After dropping an 8-7 decision in Friday's suspended game, the St. George RoadRunners bounced back behind solid pitching and timely hitting to win Saturday's scheduled contest over the host Edmonton Capitals 8 to 2.

The win improves St. George to 11-4 on the season while the Caps dropped to 8-7.

David Seccombe (2-0) threw seven quality innings to earn the victory. He allowed two runs on back-to-back homers in the Caps' fourth. Seccombe struck out four, walked three and allowed just six hits. Raymar Diaz threw two perfect innings with two strikeouts to close the game.

St. George scored in the first inning when Cody Nowlin drew a bases loaded walk scoring Ruddy Yan.

The lead pushed to 5-0 after the RoadRunners' four-run fourth inning. Yosvany Almario and Ryan Stevenson each had RBI singles and Yan plated another win a RBI sacrifice fly.

Single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh pushed St. George to an 8-2 lead, the eventual final.

Nowlin and Almario led the RoadRunner attack each blasting three hits as part of 11 total STG hits. Edmonton's Marcus Nettles and Chad Ehrnsberger had two hits.

The series-finale rubber match is Sunday afternoon from Telus Field. The RoadRunners will start Mac Nelson (3-0) while Edmonton is expected to counter with Justin Jordan.

Live coverage of Sunday's game begins with the Infowest Pregame Show at 1:45pm with the voice of the team, John Potter.
