
Roadrunners Rally to Defeat Prairie Dogs

ABILENE, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners rallied after trailing by four runs to beat the Abilene Prairie Dogs 8-5 Wednesday night at Walt Driggers Field snapping their three-game losing streak.
The Prairie Dogs (24-39) jumped out to the quick lead in the bottom of the second on a three-run homerun by Chris Graves. Bryan Fogle then walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Danny Gonzalez then followed with an RBI single scoring Fogle extending the Abilene lead 4-0.
Edinburg (40-25) got a run in the top of the third. Osiel Flores reached on a single and then stole second. A fielding error then allowed Flores to score cutting the Prairie Dog lead 4-1.
Wilmer Pino started the inning with a single and a stolen base of second. Carlos Hereaud then hit an RBI single that scored Pino from second. After Derek Perren singled and Hereaud moved to third, Felix Molina hit an RBI single that scored Hereaud. Flores then hit an RBI groundout that allowed Perren to score tying the game at four.
The Roadrunners added single runs in the top of the fifth and seventh innings giving them the 6-4 lead.
In the top of the eighth, Cristobal Santana added to the Edinburg lead with an RBI single that scored Perren from second. One out later, a fielding error then allowed Molina to score making it 8-4.
Abilene added a run in the bottom of the ninth on an error but Paul Koss shutdown the late rally and gave Edinburg the 8-5 victory.
Tetsuya Iwasaki (2-0) picked up his second win of the season after pitching in two and two-third innings while not allowing a run with two strike outs.
The Roadrunners and Prairie Dogs will wrap up their two-game series Thursday night at Walt Driggers Field. Miguel Martinez (8-3) is expected to pitch for Edinburg.
