Edinburg, Texas - The bats were busy at Edinburg Baseball Stadium on Wednesday night, and when the dust cleared the McAllen Thunder (25-40) outlasted with a 10-9 win over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (35-29).
The two teams combined for 20 hits in the game and the teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.
The McAllen Thunder pulled out the win thanks to a strong eighth inning. An RBI groundout by Miguel Alfonzo scored Craig Hertler and gave the McAllen Thunder the lead for good.
Lyndon Poole reached base two times in the game for the McAllen Thunder. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the second inning.
Kurt Houck (2-2) recorded his second win of the year for the McAllen Thunder. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Ricardo Estevez (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Chad Robinson got his 10th save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning to end the slugfest game.
The Thunder and White Wings will continue their eight game series on Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
