Colts Hang on to Defeat Fort Worth

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts scored six runs in the fifth inning, and went on to beat the Fort Worth Cats, 7-6, Wednesday night at Foster Field.

Down 4-1 entering the bottom of the fifth, San Angelo sent 11 men to the plate and took a 7-4 lead. Right fielder Jason Crosland capped off the inning with a three-run homer that scored third baseman Landon Camp and centerfielder Jamar Walton. It was Crosland's sixth homer of the year.

Fort Worth starter Blake Parry (3-3) did not get out of the fifth inning. He took the loss, giving up seven runs on as many hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The Cats mounted a comeback in the seventh, but it fell short. Second baseman C.J. Beatty and designated hitter Jon Dziomba both scored, but Fort Worth also left two men on base.

Colts' starter Mark Willinsky (6-4) earned the win, allowing six runs, four earned, on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings. Closer Erik Draxton pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his league-best 16th save.

The win improves San Angelo to 33-32, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 36-28. This two-game series concludes Thursday at Foster Field.
