Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have acquired defenseman Stuart Kerr and future considerations from the Pensacola Ice Pilots in exchange for forward Travis Lisabeth and defenseman Nikita Korovkin. The club also announced the signing of free agent rookie center Brock Hooton.
Kerr, 22, has yet to play this season after beginning the year on the injured reserve. The Carberry, Manitoba native and second-year professional tallied three goals and added four assists in 51 games split between the Ice Pilots and the Reading Royals in 2005-06. Kerr is a four-year product of the Western Hockey League having spent time with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Red Deer Rebels, and Spokane Chiefs.
Hooton, 23, finished tied for fourth in scoring last season as a senior at St. Cloud State University with seven goals and 27 points in 42 games. A native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Hooton was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He attended training camp with the San Jose Sharks in September and was later assigned to San Jose's American Hockey League affiliate in Worcester (Mass.) before being released on Oct. 8. Hooton tallied 19 goals and 62 points in 143 games over a four-year collegiate career at St. Cloud State.
Lisabeth tallied three goals and four points in nine games with the RoadRunners while Korovkin had a goal and an assist in six contests.
Kerr is not expected to join the RoadRunners until next week while Hooton has been placed on the seven-day injured reserve.
