Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - T.J. Trevelyan scored a shorthanded goal with 4:45 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 3-3 tie and lift the Long Beach Ice Dogs over the Phoenix RoadRunners 4-3 before 1,612 at Long Beach Arena in ECHL action Wednesday.

The RoadRunners (4-6-0) started strong, striking for the opening goal for the third consecutive game. Lance Monych tucked in Jake Ortmeyer's rebound past Long Beach goaltender Mike Brown at 10:19 of the first period on the power play to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead. But the Ice Dogs (1-7-1) would regroup quickly as Mark Tobin from behind the RoadRunners' net would find an open Gabriel Proulx at the top of the crease and Proulx snapped the puck over goaltender Josh Tordjman's right shoulder at 10:40 of the first to tie the game at 1-1. Long Beach would take their first lead of the game at the 15:57 mark of the first on the power play as Jeff Mason collected a loose puck to the left of the net and fired it past Tordjman giving the Ice Dogs a 2-1 advantage after the opening 20 minutes.

Travis Lisabeth potted the equalizer for the RoadRunners at 3:51 of the second period. Off a blocked Alexandre Rouleau shot, Lisabeth grabbed the puck in the slot and ripped a wrist shot by Brown to tie the game at 2-2.

Proulx netted his second of the game at 7:04 of the third period on the power play to give the Ice Dogs a 3-2 lead. However, the lead was short lived as Yannick Tifu found a streaking Scott May in the slot, and May beat Brown with a wrist shot underneath the blocker at 10:05 of the third to tie the game 3-3. That set-up Trevelyan's heroics as he beat Tordjman with a shot from the left-wing circle at 15:15 of the third to give the Ice Dogs the lead and the win.

Long Beach out-shot Phoenix 31-26. Tordjman stopped 27 shots but suffered the loss to fall to 3-4 on the season. The RoadRunners went 1-4 on the power play while Long Beach was 2-11 with the man advantage.
