Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors held South Carolina scoreless for 59:30 but it was two quick goals by Scott Campbell that gave the Stingrays a 2-1 regulation victory.

The night featured the first public showing of the newly renovated arena in downtown Greenville. The Bon Secours Wellness Arena had several enhancements constructed during the hockey offseason.

The first period was a well balanced period with both teams having quality scoring chances. Both netminders, Connor Knapp with Greenville and Jeff Jakaitis with South Carolina, made stellar saves. The Road Warriors killed off a 5-3 Stingrays' power play during the first frame.

The second period still brought no score to the newly renovated jumbotron in Greenville. The Stingrays increased traffic in front of the net, but Knapp kept the Road Warriors in the game and the score tied at zero. The second period ended with Greenville and South Carolina scoreless.

The third period started with Andrew Carroll breaking the scoreless drought with a power play goal just 5:33 into the period. The veteran forward pounded in a shot right along the crease for a 1-0 lead over the Stingrays. Knapp held off South Carolina until thirty seconds left in the third period when Campbell evened the score at one. Scooter Vaughan fired a wrist shot and Campbell was there for the rebound. With five seconds left in the game, Campbell scored again, this time a backhander and the Stingrays won 2-1 in regulation.

The Road Warriors seek revenge tomorrow night in North Charleston against the Stingrays. The faceoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard by clicking the listen live link on the Road Warriors' homepage or by watching online at America One.
