Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Orlando, FL: The Road Warriors lost the final game of the road trip by a 3-1 score against the Orlando Solar Bears on Thanksgiving night.
Both goaltenders stood strong in the first period not allowing any scoring opportunities to beat them. Greenville and Orlando each had one power play but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
The scoreless drought was broken by Brandon Hynes on the power play. The rookie forward scored his sixth of the year with seven minutes left in the period. While on the kill, Ian Slater tried to clear the puck but it hit off Hynes and went into the net. Shortly after the goal, Orlando responded. Wade MacLeod scored his second of the year on a five-hole goal. Mike Ullrich and C.J. Severyn assisted on the goal to tie the game at one.
Just a minute into the third, Severyn broke up a clearing attempt to score to his sixth of the year. The unassisted goal put Orlando up by a 2-1 score. The game remained close until late in the period when the two teams traded power play chances. Orlando was able to convert on theirs, courtesy of MacLeod. With three minutes left, he scored his second of the game similar to the first goal; a five-hole shot. This goal would be the final score as Orlando fended off the Road Warriors' final attempts in the game. Despite several good chances, even shorthanded attempts, Greenville lost 3-1. Scott Stajcer took the lost with 26 saves. Garret Sparks made 41 saves in his fourth win of the year.
