Bridgewater, NJ - The Road Warriors defeated the Somerset Patriots 2-1 at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Monday evening to end Somerset's three-game winning streak.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on catcher Jason Belcher's solo home run (2) to right field.
The Road Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. First baseman Vito Chiaravolloti singled and designated hitter Manny Mejia followed with a two-run home run (5).
Road Warriors starter Carlos Castillo (5-6) picked up the win, allowing an earned run on two hits and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. Patriots starter Keith Ramsey (4-4) suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. Benito Baez earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
The Somerset Patriots 10th Anniversary Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Tuesday afternoon with an 11:05 am game against the Road Warriors. The game features Camp Day presented by Bullfrog Sunblock.
