
Sizzling Ducks Stop Barnstormers

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 16, 2007) - The Long Island Ducks won their fourth straight game to open the second half, and fifth straight overall, defeating the Lancaster Barnstormers on Monday 7-2 in front of a past-capacity crowd of 6,051 at Citibank Park.
Carl Everett socked home runs in his final two at-bats to punctuate the Long Island victory. The Ducks' designated hitter went 3-for-4 on the night, adding a double and collecting four RBI. Jose Offerman reached base all five times he came to the plate, going 1-for-1 with an RBI, four walks and a stolen base. Edgardo Alfonzo had two hits and an RBI, and Norm Hutchins picked up a triple and a run scored.
John Halama (5-5) shut down the Lancaster offense, working seven innings and allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits. Ben Grezlovski pitched a perfect eighth and John Riedling threw a scoreless ninth to wrap things up. Brett Evert (4-5) took the loss for the Barnstormers, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings of work.
The Ducks continue a six game homestand on Tuesday with the middle game of their three game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers. Gametime is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Citibank Park gates open at 6:05 p.m., and the first 1,500 fans to the park will receive navy blue baseballs, courtesy of the Salvation Army.
