Road Trip Ends with a Loss in Lethbridge

Moose Jaw had a strong start but they stumbled in the second period as the Lethbridge Hurricanes scored four goals in the frame and went on to hand the Warriors an 8-2 loss at Enmax Centre.

The first period was filled with momentum shifts as the teams exchanged goals throughout the frame.

Moose Jaw opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game when Cade Hayes floated the puck up the ice from the Warriors zone, springing Calder Anderson for a breakaway.

Anderson broke away from a Lethbridge backcheck and then beat goalie Bryan Thomson glove side, his third of the year game Moose Jaw an early lead.

Lethbridge came right back just over two minutes later when they got a power-play goal from Brett Davis.

The Warriors responded just before the ten-minute when they landed on their first power-play of the game.

Chase Hartje had the puck at the Lethbridge blueline and then moved it over to the top of the right circle for Ryder Korczak.  Korczak took a couple of steps inside the circle and then made a cross-ice pass to Martin Lang inside the left circle where he one-timed the puck to the back of the net for his 13th of the season.

Just over four minutes later at 13:50, the Hurricanes broke across the Warriors line with speed and the rush finished with a goal from Dino Kambeitz to tie the game at two.

Lethbridge picked up the pace in the second period and their aggressive fore-check created several turnovers in the Moose Jaw zone which resulted in extra attack time for the Hurricanes.

Just past the four-minute mark, the Warriors were unable to clear the puck inside their zone.  Danila Palivko held the left Moose Jaw line and then let a shot got that went off a Warrior and past Brock Gould to give Lethbridge their first lead of the game.

The Hurricanes went up by two at 14:11 on Brett Davis's second power-play goal of the game, and then Lethbridge got goals from Zack Stringer and Oliver Okuliar just over a minute part inside the final five minutes of the period to take a 6-2 lead.

Six minutes into the third period, Calen Addison took a shot inside the left circle that was deflected by Brett Jones on top of the Moose Jaw crease, his hat-trick goal increased their lead.

Lethbridge added another power-play goal in the final three minutes and went on to the 8-2 win.

The Warriors end their 6-game road trip with a record of 0-5-1.  They are now off until next weekend when they will play three games in three days.
