
Rivermen Trounce Mayhem 7-1 Thursday Night

Macon, GA - The Peoria Rivermen got seven goals from six different players as they beat the Macon Mayhem 7-1 Thursday night. The win, Peoria's twelfth in a row on the road, improves the Rivermen's leage-leading point total to 54 with a pair of games in Fayetteville remaining on the current road trip.
Peoria started the scoring with a powerplay tally at 12:57 of the first period when Brandon Greenside's shot from the right point was redirected by Matt Summers to make it 1-0 Rivermen. 79 seconds later the Rivermen doubled their lead when Chris Wilson skated into the right wing of the Mayhem zone and sniped a far-post wrister past Macon goaltender Garrett Bartus to make it 2-0.
Peoria continued adding to their lead in the second period. 7:34 into the second stanza Greenside's shot from the point resulted in a rebound that was backhanded into the net by Ben Power to make it 3-0 Peoria.
The Rivermen started piling on at 4:30 of the third when Steve Morra walked into the Macon zone and deked around new Macon goaltender Curtis Martinu and put the puck into an open net to make it 4-0. At 7:06 of the third the Rivermen lead swelled to 5-0 on a slapshot from the right circle by Adam Stuart. At 7:28 of the third Peoria got a powerplay tally on a top shelf slapper from Greenside to make it 6-0.
The Mayhem got on the board at 10:40 of the third when Mike Montrose's powerplay blast beat Peoria goaltender David Jacobson to make it 6-1. Peoria extended their lead to 7-1 on Wilson's second goal of the game assisted by Connor Toomey and Mike Gurtler to make it 7-1 Peoria.
Jacobson stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced to win his seventh straight SPHL start. Jacobson is 7-0-0 since joining Peoria after he started his pro career 0-4-0 with the Mayhem.
Notes: Wilson had two goals and two assists to tie a season-high with four points...A goal and two assists for Greenside ties a single-game season high with three points...Toomey had two assists for his third multi-assist game of the season...The win is Peoria's 12th consecutive road win, extending their SPHL record for longest road win streak...The Rivermen return to action tomorrow night in Fayetteville, NC with the first of two games against the FireAntz starting at 6:00 central time...The broadcast of the game can be heard, starting with the pregame show, at 5:45 P.M.
