Peoria Rivermen News Release

WALK(ER) IT OUT

Last Sunday's 6-2 win over Fayetteville included two goals and two assists for Rivermen winger Walker Wintoneak, setting a new career single-game high with four points. For the season, Wintoneak has seven goals and ten assists in 20 games, including three game-winners, tying him with Adam Stuart for the team-high in GWG.

THE MEN BEHIND THE MASKS

The Rivermen enter play tonight with the reigning co-SPHL players of the week, goaltenders Kyle Rank and David Jacobson, between the pipes. For the season, Rank is 15-4-2 with a league-best 2.04 GAA as well as a .930 save percentage, and until last Saturday he had not lost in regulation since a December 4 game at Mississippi, a span of nine starts. Since joining the Rivermen Jacobson has gone 6-0-0 with a 1.84 GAA and a .936 saves rate, giving him a 6-4-0 overall SPHL record with a 2.42 GAA and a .913 save percentage this season.

A CASE OF THE WILLIES

Last Sunday's Rivermen win included an assist by veteran winger Chris Wilson, giving him 250 points in his pro career, spent entirely in the SPHL. Wilson has tallied 118 goals and 132 points over 243 career games, including 71 points in his Rookie of the Year season of 2010-11 with Pensacola. Since being acquired in a November trade with Louisiana, Wilson has posted eight goals and 14 assists in 23 games for Peoria.

THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH

The Rivermen come into tonight's contest leading the league in fewest shots on goal allowed per game at 28.70 and second in the SPHL at 34.52 shots taken on net per game. The Rivermen are out-shooting opponents 1139-947 overall, including a 409-287 margin in the first period of games, the widest margin for any SPHL team in any individual period this season.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After tonight's game the Rivermen will travel to Fayetteville for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night against the FIreAntz. After that, the Rivermen will return to their home ice for a three-game set with Louisiana February 12-14.
