Huntsville Havoc News Release
HUNTSVILLE, AL - For the second time in two weeks the Huntsville Havoc has announced the retirement of a player due to medical reasons as forward Will Aide has decided to give up the sport he loves. Veteran forward Brett Lutes announced his retirement on January 21.
"Hockey was all I knew," Aide said. "Every year I knew it would be coming around for hockey season again, and that's what kept the fire in my heart. As I look at it now and realize that there is more than just hockey. Life is full of opportunities and you never know what you are going to run into, but make sure whatever that is you give it all you got every second. At the end of the day, I look at myself in the mirror and I truly can say I gave it every day, every second of my hockey career. It wasn't a job, it was a passion!"
Aide was in his first season with the Havoc after spending two plus seasons with the Columbu Cottonmouths. The Bismark, North Dakota native played in 134 career games, scored 17 goals, recorded 18 assists and had 506 penalty minutes. He scored two goals, recorded five assists and had 128 penalty minutes in 30 games this season for the Havoc.
"Will was a great teammate in his short time in Huntsville and will be missed," head coach Glenn Detulleo said. "The energy he brought to the rink on a daily basis was a lot of fun to be around. It's always a tough decision to walk away from the game you love, but for him it's the right one to make at this time."
The Havoc are on the road tonight in Pensacola and will play Aide's former team in Columbus tomorrow night. The three-game road trip ends with a Saturday night game in Mississippi.
