Rivermen Trade Rookie MacMillan to Cincinnati for Future Considerations

Peoria, Ill. (February 24, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie center Malcolm MacMillan has been traded to the Cincinnati Cyclones for future considerations.

MacMillan – a 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario – registered five assists and racked up 96 penalty minutes (PIM) in 34 games with Peoria. He opened the 2003-2004 season with the Florence Pride, picking up four points (3g, 1a) and 42 PIM in 12 games. The 22-year-old was acquired for tough man Craig Brunel on November 17, 2003.

The Rivermen also activated rookie defenseman Craig Olynick from the 7-day injured reserve. He had been on injured reserve since January 11. Defenseman Doug MacIver was then placed on the 7-day injured reserve.

The Rivermen host the Reading Royals on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. Game times are 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, it is another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission by presenting a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. Senior Account Executive Ralph Rashid will be inducted into the Rivermen Hall of Fame in the Builders Division. On Saturday, it is Caterpillar Night. The first 2,000 fans receive a Rivermen Pop-Up Chair, courtesy of Caterpillar. Claude Scott – The Happy Trumpeter will appear both nights, courtesy of Velde Automotive. The Rivermen are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
