February 24, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce a new community program called Reading is Cool as Ice!
The program, which will feature Lynx players visiting local libraries and schools to read to area children, will kick off during the month of March at Gibbs Memorial Library, located at 326 North Belair Road in Evans. Lynx players will make three appearances at Gibbs during the month, starting Thursday, March 11 at 4 pm. Subsequent visits will be made Wednesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 24, also at 4 pm.
Along with reading to the children, the players will conduct a "Show and Tell" session by introducing young fans to hockey equipment, and answer general questions about the great game of hockey. The players also will be available for photos and autographs.
Although the 2003-04 Season is winding down, there are still a few more open dates available to bring the Augusta Lynx Reading is Cool as Ice! program to your school or library in the coming weeks.
The program will begin again this October, when the ECHL opens its 2004-05 Season, the seventh in Augusta for the Lynx.
For more information on the program, contact Lynx Director of Promotions and Game Operations Krista Goetz at (706) 724-4423 or via email at kgoetz@augustalynx.com. Fans may also contact Gibbs Memorial Library Children's Librarian Pam Link at (706) 863-1946.
