Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria Rivermen Chief Operating Officer Jason Penning and Vice President and Marketing Manager of Advanced Media Partners J.R. Greeley have announced that WZPN-FM 96.5 - ESPN Radio - will be the new home for the Rivermen radio broadcasts for the 2010-11 season.
All 80 regular season games, as well as postseason games, will air live on Peoria's only all-sports outlet. Game broadcasts will begin with a pregame show 15 minutes prior to the opening faceoff and extend with a live postgame show featuring highlights from the game as well as interviews with players and coaches.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have our games on ESPN Radio again this season," said Penning. "The marriage between a the Rivermen and ESPN is a perfect match and we are excited to be able to continue our partnership with Advanced Media and continue to offer our broadcasts to sports fans throughout Central Illinois."
The first broadcast of the season will be Saturday, Oct. 2 for Peoria's preseason finale against the Rockford IceHogs at 7:05 p.m. The games will continue to be available online through both the team and radio station's web sites as well as a live video webcast on www.AHLlive.com.
"These radio broadcasts are the perfect fit for Peoria's premier professional sports team, the Rivermen, and Peoria's only 24-hour, all-sports radio station, 96.5 ESPN," said Greeley.
Brendan Burke will return for his third season behind the Rivermen microphone. The 26-year-old New Jersey native has broadcast over 300 professional hockey games between the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and the Rivermen as well as over 300 professional baseball games with the Batavia Muckdogs and the Lakewood BlueClaws.
The Rivermen broadcasts had been located on 101.1 FM WHPI, another station part of Advanced Media Partners, for the past two seasons. This will be Peoria's second tour on ESPN Radio after spending the 2007-08 season on 96.5 FM.
Season ticket packages are still on sale through the Rivermen office. Call (309) 676-1040 for more information or to reserve your seat for the upcoming season.
