
Bulldogs Blank Senators 3-0 in Pre-Season Opener

Corner Brook, NFLD - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Binghamton Senators 3-0 on Thursday night in their first pre-season game of the 2010-2011 season at Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Robert Mayer made 36 saves for the shutout win while J.T. Wyman scored two goals and added an assist.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 17:31 of the first period. Frederic St-Denis collected the puck at the blue line before snapping a shot towards the net. The puck banked off of J.T. Wyman before squeaking past Binghamton starting goaltender Mike Brodeur.
The 'Dogs took a 2-0 lead at 3:01 of the second stanza. David Desharnais released a shot from the blue line that banked off Wyman, who was stationed in front of the net. The puck bounced past Brodeur and into the back of the net.
Mid-way through the second period, Barry Brust replaced Mike Brodeur in the Binghamton net.
Aaron Palushaj gave Hamilton a 3-0 lead at 17:53 of the final frame. Andreas Engqvist dished the puck to Palushaj, who dashed towards the net and backhanded a shot that was stopped by Barry Brust. Palushaj grabbed the loose rebound before burying the puck past the goaltender and into the back of the net.
The 'Dogs will host the Senators for two more pre-season games on Saturday, October 2nd at 12:30 p.m. EST in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and on Sunday, October 3rd at 12:30 p.m. EST in St. John's, Newfoundland. Hamilton will open its 15th American Hockey League season on Friday, October 15th at 7:35 p.m. when they travel to Rochester to battle the Americans. The Bulldogs will then return to Copps Coliseum to host their 2010-2011 home opener on Saturday, October 16th at 4:00 p.m. against the Toronto Marlies. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on TODAY'S COUNTRY AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. All pre-game shows during 'Dogs home games will be broadcast live from the main concourse at Copps Coliseum.
