Game-winning Goals - Bobby Chaumont (4) December 12th vs. Texas Brahmas - RiverKings 7, Texas 2 Garrett Larson scored two goals while newcomer Dallas Steward and Bobby Chaumont each provided three points as the RiverKings set a new watermark for offensive output against the Brahmas. Meanwhile, goaltender Kevin Beech stopped 21 of 23 shots on goal in posting his 11th victory of the season. In addition to Larson's two goals and Steward and Chaumont with three points, Dane Marshall scored a goal and added an assist, and Joe Markusen and Derek Landmesser each chipped in with a pair of helpers. Mississippi had a 31-23 advantage in shots on goal, and scored four power play goals in six chances.

December 13th vs. Texas Brahmas - RiverKings 4, Texas 3 (Shootout) Bobby Chaumont scored a goal in regulation and the only goal of the shootout, while goaltender Kevin Beech stopped all five Texas shooters in the RiverKings victory. Garrett Larson and Brad Bonello also scored for Mississippi in the team's second straight victory and third straight home win. The RiverKings outshot the Brahmas 39-25 in the contest.

Roster Notes Last week, Mississippi added forward Dallas Steward to the roster. Steward comes to the RiverKings from the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL, which recently suspended operations. Matt Summers is on the 14-day injured reserve list from November 28th. David Simoes is on the 14-day injured reserve list from December 6th.

Individual Player Notes

David Simoes is tied for second place in the CHL for penalty minutes with 98 for the season. Simoes ranks second in the CHL in major penalties taken with 16. Simoes has been whistled for 12 penalty minutes in two games against Wichita this season. Brad Bonello stands third in the CHL for shooting percentage at .280 (seven goals, 25 shots on goal).

Bobby Chaumont is tied for the league lead in game-winning goals with four. Chaumont is third in the CHL three-star standings with 28 points, including five number one stars. Chaumont has scored five points (three goals, two assists) in his last two games. Saturday night was the fourth time this season that Bobby has scored two goals in a game. Chaumont has scored two goals and has four points against Wichita this season. He has a team-lead-tying seven goals and 12 points in his last 10 games. Three of those seven goals have been on the power play and two have been game-winners. Chaumont has seven multiple point games this season for a total of 16 points in those games. He has scored two goals in four contests this year and has two games were he's earned two helpers.

Kevin Beech leads the league in victories by a goaltender with 12 and is minutes played with 1087. Beech also leads the CHL in shootouts saves, (9 saves in 9 shots on goal). Beech has won seven of his last eight starts and has allowed 21 goals in those eight games for a 2.60 goals-against-average in that period. The 21 goals allowed include one-goal efforts November 18th against Tulsa and November 26th at Rio Grande Valley. He has a five-game winning streak stopped at Corpus Christi November 28th and has won his last two starts, both last weekend at home against Texas. Beech is 2-0-0 against Wichita with a 2.00 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .913.

Jeff Alcombrack is ninth in the CHL in points scored by a defenseman with 16 points. Alcombrack and Derek Landmesser each have eight assists in the team's last ten games. Louis Dumont leads the CHL in shorthanded goals scored with four. Dumont has scored one goal and has four points against Wichita this season.

Garrett Larson is tied for first place in the CHL in shorthanded assists with three. Larson has scored six goals and has seven points in his last four games, dating back to December 5th at Rapid City. Larson has three assists against the Wichita Thunder in two games this season. He's tied with Bobby Chaumont for the RiverKings' lead in goals scored in the last ten games with seven. Derek Landmesser is tied with Jeff Alcombrack for the team lead in assists in the RiverKings' last ten games with eight. Tyler Sims has earned the only shutout between the pipes for the RiverKings, a 1-0 decision at Corpus Christi on November 29th.

Team Extras -Mississippi has a home record of 7-3-0 and is 7-6-0 in contests away from the DeSoto Civic Center. They have won their last four home games, dating back to November 15th against Oklahoma City.

-The RiverKings are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and 4-1-0 in their last five contests.

-Saturday night's attendance of 3,211 was the largest attendance of the season for Mississippi at the DeSoto Civic Center.

-The RiverKings ranked eighth in the CHL for average penalty minutes per game at 25.48. The total includes 32 major penalties and five misconduct penalties.

-Mississippi has a record of 11-4-0 when scoring the first goal and is 2-0 in shootouts.

-Against the Northwest Division, the RiverKings have a record of 5-2-0. Saturday's game at Amarillo will be the RiverKings' first encounter with a team from the Southwest Division this year.

-Against Wichita, Mississippi has a record of 2-0-0 this season. The RiverKings defeated the Thunder in the season's first game 3-2 on October 17th, and then stopped the Thunder in Wichita 6-2 on November 8th.

-On the road, the RiverKings have the ninth-best power play in the CHL at 17.2%. In away games, Mississippi has the eighth-best penalty-killing team in the CHL at 81.1%.

-Three of the RiverKings' five shorthanded goals have been scored on the road.

-Mississippi is one of three teams to have not allowed a goal in a shootout this season (0-for-9). The other two teams (Amarillo and New Mexico) have not played in a shootout yet this year.

-The RiverKings are second to Oklahoma City in fewest shots allowed per game at 26.00.

-On the road, when ahead after two periods, Mississippi has a record of 5-0-0. When trailing after forty minutes, the RiverKings are 1-4-0.

RiverKings' FYI...

-Saturday's victory marked the second time the RiverKings have won a game in a shootout. The other victory came October 24th at Oklahoma City and was decided 2-0 with Louis Dumont and Stephen Margeson scoring goals in the shootout session for the RiverKings.

-The four power play goals scored in six tries against the Brahmas in Friday's 7-2 victory were the most scored by the RiverKings this season. The seven goals scored were also a season high-watermark for the team. The four goals scored in the third period were also a season high for goals scored in a period.

-Mississippi's two-game winning streak marks the fifth time this year the team has won at least two games in a row. The RiverKings have won three straight games on two occasions this year, the last time coming between November 15th against Oklahoma City and November 21st at Tulsa.

-Friday was the first time Mississippi had scored more than one power play goal in a game since November 26th at Rio Grande Valley (2-for-4).

-Saturday was the first time Mississippi had allowed a power play goal since the December 6th loss at Rapid City.

The Next Time...

After this week the RiverKings next play Wichita at home on December 23rd. Friday's contest at Wichita will be the RiverKings' last visit to Kansas this season. Saturday's game at Amarillo will be the only time Mississippi and the Gorillas play this season.

The Schedule Ahead

It will be a busy Christmas week for the RiverKings, starting December 23rd with a home match-up against the Wichita Thunder, beginning at 7:05 PM. Following Christmas, the RiverKings return to action December 26th with a Northeast Division match-up with division leader Oklahoma City, starting at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center. The following night, the RiverKings are on the road to meet another Northeast Division rival, the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center in Tulsa, starting at 7:35 PM.

Broadcasts

Both games this weekend against Wichita on Friday and Amarillo on Saturday will be heard in the Mid-South on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM with the voice of the RiverKings, Bob Bakken, providing the play-by-play. Air time each night will be at 6:50 PM and coverage of both games can also be seen through your computer Internet connection on CHL-TV.
