
RiverKings Swept By Bugs In Home Return

(Southaven, MS) --- Simon Mangos' goal in the first 1:22 of overtime provided the difference in Bossier-Shreveport's 3-2 victory over the Mississippi RiverKings in Southaven on Friday, November 20 in Southaven. With the win, Bossier won its third straight game while the RiverKings suffered their third straight loss, albeit an overtime loss this time in which they claimed a standings points.
Mississippi's record is now 7-8-1 for the season for 15 points, while Bossier-Shreveport improved their mark to 7-6-0 for 14 points in a tight Central Hockey League Northern Conference race.
The game also marked career professional game number 1000 for RiverKings forward Louis Dumont, who was given a special plaque prior to the start of the contest.
Mississippi scored first against the Mudbugs when Kevin Jarman scored his fourth goal of the year at 12:25 of the first period. Ryan Campbell and Steve Makway received assists on Jarman's fourth goal of the year.
Bossier-Shreveport tied the game later in the first session on an unassisted goal by Joe Blaznek at 14:01 for a 1-1 tie at the end of the first period.
Defense rose up in the second period as neither team scored, as the score remained 1-1 going into the final period of play, despite the RiverKings outshooting the Mudbugs 21-4.
In the third period, Bossier-Shreveport took a 2-1 lead when David Pszenyczny netted his first goal of the year at 3:26. It stayed that way until RiverKings' forward Darrell Stoddard forced in a loose puck at the crease past Bossier-Shreveport goaltender Ken Carroll for a 2-2 tie at 8:48, unassisted.
There was no further scoring until the overtime game-winner by Mangos, his third goal and third game-winner of the season. Mississippi put a season-high 47 shots on goal against the Mudbugs, who took 24 against the RiverKings. Mississippi failed to score in six power play chances, while the Mudbugs were 1-for-2 with the man advantage.
Losing goaltender Ray Jean (7-6-1) stopped 21 shots in the contest for the RiverKings, while Ken Carroll made 45 saves in earning his second victory of the year (2-3-0).
The RiverKings next play host to the expansion Missouri Mavericks in Southaven Saturday night, November 21 at 7:05 PM.
