Bucks Win Streak Snapped In Shootout Loss

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 4-3 in a shootout Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks four-game winning streak was snapped with the loss as they fall to 7-2-3 (17 points), while the Jackalopes improve to 12-2-1 (25 points).

Colin Circelli scored two-goals for Odessa, including the game-winning goal in the shootout.

Maxime Lincourt had three points (1-2=3 ) to lead the Bucks in the defeat,while J.P Levasseur stopped 37 of 40 shots to fall to 6-0-2. Joel Martin picked up the win in net for the Jackalopes as he set aside 19 of 22 shots.

Going back to last season, nine of the Bucks last 11 home games have gone to overtime or a shootout. Laredo is now 3-3-3 in those games (0-3 playoffs).

The Bucks took a 1-0 lead when they scored with just 2.8 seconds left in the first period. Evan Schwabe scored on a backhander off of a long rebound from the bottom of the right circle to pick up his fourth goal of the season. Maxime Lincourt and Jarred Mohr picked up assists for the Bucks.

Laredo was outshot in the first period 13-8.

Neither team was able to score in the second period, giving the Bucks a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Bucks (3-0-3 at home) penalty kill was busy in the second period, as they killed off a 1:50 five-on-three power-play late in the period to hold the lead. Laredo was outshot again in the second period, this time by a 12-5 margin.

The third period was a wild one as the two teams combined for five goals (three for Odessa).

The Jackalopes tied the game at 1-1 just 34 seconds into the third when Jeff Pierce scored from the top of the right circle on the power-play.

Odessa would take a 2-1 lead 2:30 into the third when Mike Lesperance scored right in front of the crease to notch his sixth of the year.

Maxime Lincourt would tie the game at 2-2 for the Bucks minutes later at the 5:30 mark of the third when he hammered home a shot from the bottom of the right circle. The tally was Lincourt's sixth of the year, with Mike Looby picking up the assist.

Odessa would take the lead again at 3-2 at the 7:55 mark of the third when Circelli scored from the left side of the crease off of a laser pass from Sebastien Thinel. Thinel had two assists in the game.

Looby would tie the game at 3-3 with 6:33 left in the game as he scored a power-play goal off of a slap shot from the point. Looby's goal was his fourth of the year, with Lincourt picking up the helper.

Each team put up nine shots in the third period.

Laredo falls to 6-0-1 this season when leading after two periods.

Niether team scored in overtime, with the ‘Jacks outshooting the Bucks 6-0.

Laredo was outshot in the game by a count of 41-22.

The Bucks fall to 3-2 in shootouts, while the Jackalopes improve to 4-1.
