
Jacks Top Laredo in Shootout, 4-3

(Laredo, TX) -- Joel Martin picked up his fourth shootout win of the season as the Odessa Jackalopes topped the Laredo Bucks, 4-3, on Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Jackalopes also extended their streak to 13 games with a power play goal.
After just one goal through the first two periods, five combined goals were scored in the third period. Odessa tied the game at 1-1 on Jeff Pierce's power play goal just :34 into the third period. Mike Lesperance and Collin Circelli also added goals for the Jacks. While Maxime Lincourt and Mike Looby scored for Laredo. Looby's goal forced overtime and the eventual shootout.
In the shootout, Circelli, was the only goal scorer while Odessa's Joel Martin was perfect in five rounds. Circelli received credit for the game-winning goal.
The game was scoreless until the final seconds of the first period when Laredo's Evan Schwabe scored the opening marker. Schwabe's backhand shot in front of the net gave the Bucks a 1-0 lead entering the intermission.
Laredo's JP Levasseur put together a remarkable second period as neither team found the back of the net. The Jackalopes earned a 5-on-3 power play opportunity and peppered the net with 25 shots through the first two periods, but Levasseur turned each one away to keep the score at 1-0 through two favoring Laredo.
Odessa finished with a pair of power play goals on the night, and their record on the season improves to 12-2-1.
The Jackalopes finish their three-in-three weekend Saturday night against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in McAllen, TX. Game time is set for 7:35 PM. The action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.
